# Assets

On **Rhombus**, collateral deposited is viewed as an asset since it can be sold to cover the loan amount if necessary. In contrast, borrowed amounts are considered **liabilities** because they represent the borrower’s obligation to repay the lender. The tokens used for assets and liabilities often differ, with borrowed tokens generally being stablecoins, while collateral tokens are usually more volatile.

### Token Evaluation and Listing on Rhombus

A detailed analysis is essential before listing any token on **Rhombus** to minimize potential market risks. The platform follows a set of stringent criteria to assess whether an asset is suitable for inclusion in the lending pool, including:

* **Liquidity Check**: Verifying that the asset has adequate market liquidity to support trading.
* **Security Assessment**: Performing a full audit to uncover potential vulnerabilities in the token's smart contract.
* **Collateralization Strategy**: Establishing a suitable collateralization ratio that balances risk while maintaining the lending pool’s integrity.
* **Risk Assessment**: Prioritizing assets with strong risk profiles to serve as collateral.
* **Oracle Considerations**: Tokens with easily manipulated oracles are restricted to single-borrow listings.
* **Community Support**: Gauging the token’s level of community backing and activity.

#### Isolation Mode for Risky Assets (Not Available now)

For newer or more volatile tokens with lower liquidity, **Isolation Mode** may be used. This feature enables the platform to manage borrowing and lending for riskier assets while keeping exposure controlled.

# Lend and Borrow

## Lending and Borrowing on Rhombus

This section explains Rhombus' lending protocol in detail.

### How does traditional lending work?

Traditional finance (TradFi) loans are neither inclusive nor permissionless. Banks, credit agencies, and other intermediaries handle user data and dictate loan terms, which makes the process slow and selective. Unlike DeFi, where loans can be secured in seconds, getting a substantial loan in TradFi often requires lengthy approval processes.

### How is Rhombus different from traditional lending?

Rhombus offers a permissionless, decentralized lending protocol that enables users to lend and borrow without needing approval or disclosing personal information. No matter your financial background or location, you can access lending services with ease.

By simply connecting your wallet, you can deposit collateral and immediately receive a loan without the hassle of paperwork or weeks of waiting for approval.

#### Benefits of Lending and Borrowing on Rhombus

Rhombus provides more than just lending services — users earn rewards for both supplying and borrowing crypto assets. You can take advantage of competitive supply and borrow APYs, accumulate ecosystem points, and even gain rewards from partner projects.

### Leveraging Market Opportunities with DeFi Loans on Rhombus

In DeFi, maximizing the use of your capital is key to success. With Rhombus, you can use loans to leverage your assets and hold multiple tokens using the same collateral.

For example, if you’re an KAIA investor with confidence in the KAIA ecosystem’s future, you don’t have to just hold your KAIA. Instead, you can deposit it as collateral on Rhombus, borrow USDT, and invest in other tokens within the KAIA ecosystem. Of course, this involves leveraging, which introduces added risk, but with careful management, you can potentially amplify your returns.

# Parameters

## Key Parameters for DeFi Lending and Borrowing on Rhombus

This section covers the essential parameters involved in DeFi lending and borrowing.

### Max LTV (Loan-to-Value Ratio)

Max LTV represents the highest amount you can borrow relative to your collateral. For example, if you're using $KAIA as collateral on Rhombus' KAIA Market, the maximum LTV is 65%. This means for every $KAIA you deposit, you can borrow up to 0.65 $KAIA in return.

### Liquidation Threshold

The liquidation threshold is the point where your loan is considered undercollateralized and is at risk of being liquidated. The liquidation threshold for $KAIA is 70%. If the value of your $KAIA loan reaches 70% of the value of your collateral, the protocol may sell off your collateral to cover the loan.

### Liquidation Penalty

If your collateral is liquidated, a penalty is applied. On Rhombus, the liquidation penalty is 7\~10%. So, if your loan is liquidated, you'll need to pay this additional peanalty on top of your loan balance.

### Utilization Rate

The utilization rate shows how much of the available funds are currently being borrowed. For instance, if the utilization rate is 78%, that means 78% of the total available funds are being lent out. This percentage directly impacts interest rates—the higher the utilization, the higher the interest rates due to increased demand for the remaining available funds.

### Health Factor

The health factor measures your loan's safety margin. A health factor above 1 means your loan is safe from liquidation. If it drops below 1, your loan is undercollateralized, and liquidation may occur. You can monitor the health factor of your loans under the Rhombus 'Dashboard.'

# LST Lending

## Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs)

Liquid Staking Tokens (LRTs) are tokenized derivatives that represent staked assets, allowing you to unlock liquidity while still earning staking rewards.

When you stake $KAIA to Lair Finance, your $KAIA is locked. LSTs let you convert that staked $KAIA into a derivative asset, which can then be used freely across supported DeFi platforms.

### How LSTs Work

Here’s a simple breakdown of how LSTs function:

* Users stake their assets (e.g., $KAIA) through a liquid staking protocol.
* The protocol issues LST tokens (such as $stKAIA) in a 1:1 ratio, which represents the staked $KAIA.
* These LST tokens can be traded, lent, or used in various DeFi applications, all while continuing to earn staking rewards.

On top of staking rewards, users can also collect points from both the liquid staking protocol and any partnered protocols.

# Liquidation

## Liquidations on Rhombus

This section explains how liquidations work on Rhombus, their benefits, drawbacks, and how they're executed.

Rhombus has a liquidation system in place to minimize default risks and protect lenders’ capital.

### What is Liquidation?

Liquidation occurs when a borrower's collateral is sold off to repay their debt if the health factor of their loan drops below 1. Since liquidation is one of the major risks in DeFi lending, borrowers need to regularly monitor their loans and adjust their collateral or repay the loan to avoid this outcome.

Several factors determine how much collateral is sold, such as the liquidation threshold, penalty, the current value of the collateral, and the outstanding debt.

### Monitoring Loan Health

Rhombus tracks the health of loans using two key metrics: Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio and the liquidation threshold.

* **LTV Ratio**: Defines how much you can borrow against your collateral.
* **Liquidation Threshold**: Marks the point at which your loan becomes under-collateralized and is at risk of liquidation.

### How Does Liquidation Work on Rhombus?

Loan stability on Rhombus is measured by a metric called the **Health Factor**, which compares the value of your collateral against your borrowed amount. A health factor above 1 means your loan is safe, but if it falls below 1, Rhombus will sell enough of your collateral to restore the health factor to a safe level.

#### Liquidation Thresholds:

* **50% liquidation**: When the health factor dips below 1.
* **100% liquidation**: When the health factor falls below a lower, dynamically adjusted threshold.

For example, let’s say you borrowed $10,000 in stablecoins against $18,000 worth of $KAIA. If your health factor reaches the liquidation threshold (e.g., 0.8), Rhombus’ smart contract will automatically sell enough of your collateral to cover the debt. If there's a liquidation penalty (e.g., 5%), the amount of collateral sold will increase to account for that.

### When Could Your Collateral Be Liquidated?

To prevent liquidation, it’s important to understand the factors that can cause your health factor to drop below 1:

* Volatile collateral: If the value of your collateral drops sharply.
* Collateral depreciation: The value of your deposited asset decreases.
* Debt increase: The value of your borrowed funds rises relative to your collateral.
* Missed interest payments: Failing to meet your interest obligations.

Rhombus helps mitigate some of this risk by placing volatile assets in **Isolation Mode (Not available yet)**.

### Who Are Liquidators?

Liquidators are advanced DeFi users or bots that monitor loans eligible for liquidation. They use automated systems to trigger a liquidation when a loan’s health factor drops too low. Liquidators pay off part of the debt and, in return, receive the collateral at a discount, known as the **liquidation bonus**.

For example, if the liquidation penalty is 5%, half of that (2.5%) is given as a bonus to the liquidator.

### Liquidation Bonuses and Risks

Liquidators are rewarded based on the risk level of the collateral. Higher-risk assets come with larger bonuses, encouraging liquidators to actively seek out and resolve risky positions. Rhombus carefully monitors market trends to offer competitive bonuses and ensure the protocol’s health.

### Liquidation Process

To execute a liquidation on Rhombus, several inputs are required:

* **User’s Wallet Address**: The borrower’s wallet with a health factor below 1.
* **Debt Coverage Amount**: The amount of debt the liquidator is covering.
* **Debt Asset**: The asset being used to cover the debt, often supported by flash loans.
* **Collateral Asset**: The original asset deposited by the user.
* **Profit Asset**: The asset the liquidator chooses to be paid in, such as native tokens or the underlying collateral.

### Steps to Execute a Liquidation

Liquidation is a multistep process that can be automated via bots. Here’s a brief overview:

1. Verify the borrower’s health factor.
2. Evaluate if the liquidation is profitable after fees and bonuses.
3. Use flash loans if necessary.
4. Perform any necessary swaps.
5. Complete the liquidation.

### How to Avoid Liquidation

To avoid liquidation, you can either repay part of your loan or deposit more collateral. Repaying the loan will significantly improve your health factor, making it the more effective option.

# Flash Loan

Flash Loans are a powerful feature primarily designed for developers due to the technical expertise required to implement them. This functionality allows users to borrow any amount of available assets without needing to provide collateral, provided that the borrowed liquidity is returned to the protocol within the same block transaction. Flash Loans offer a range of advanced use cases such as arbitrage, collateral swapping, and liquidations, all executed in a single atomic transaction.

### How Flash Loans Work

Flash Loans enable you to borrow assets from the protocol for the duration of a single blockchain transaction. This is possible because the borrowed amount, along with any accrued fees and interest, must be repaid before the transaction concludes. If the borrowed amount is not returned within the same transaction, the entire transaction is reverted, ensuring the security of the protocol’s funds.

#### Key Steps in a Flash Loan Transaction:

1. **Request the Flash Loan:** Your smart contract sends a request to the protocol to borrow a specified amount of assets.
2. **Execute Arbitrary Operations:** The smart contract can perform any number of operations such as trading, arbitrage, or collateral swapping using the borrowed assets.
3. **Repay the Loan:** Before the transaction ends, the smart contract must return the borrowed amount along with any accrued interest and fees.
4. **Transaction Completion:** If the borrowed amount is not repaid, the entire transaction is reverted, ensuring no assets are lost.

# High Efficiency Mode

E-Mode

### Overview

The E-mode feature allows users to maximize capital efficiency when collateral and borrowed assets share similar price movements. For example, gcKLAY and stKAIA are all tokens pegged to the KAIA and are categorized together under the same E-mode. When you supply stKAIA in E-mode, you gain higher collateralization power, enabling you to borrow more assets like KAIA.

**Note:** E-mode is limited to borrowing assets within the same category (e.g., stablecoins).

### Using E-mode

E-mode is a specialized feature that enhances your borrowing capacity for correlated assets while still allowing you to use other assets as collateral under standard conditions. Assets outside the E-mode category will retain their normal Loan-to-Value (LTV) and liquidation parameters.

#### Entering E-mode

1. **Access the Dashboard:**
   * Navigate to the dashboard and locate the “Your Borrows” section.
2. **Enable E-mode:**
   * Click on the dropdown menu under “Your Borrows” and select the “Enable E-mode” button.
   * Initially, the status will show as “E-mode Disabled.” Click “Enable E-mode” and follow the instructions in the pop-up window.
3. **Enhanced Borrowing Power:**
   * Once enabled, your borrowing power will increase, allowing up to 9% LTV for assets within the same E-mode category, such as stablecoins.

#### Exiting E-mode

1. **Disable E-mode:**
   * To exit E-mode, go back to the “Your Borrows” section and select “Disable E-mode” from the dropdown menu.
2. **Follow Instructions:**
   * Follow the prompts in the pop-up to successfully exit E-mode and revert to normal collateral and borrowing settings.

### Benefits of E-mode

* **Increased Borrowing Power:** Enjoy up to 93% LTV when borrowing assets within the same E-mode category.
* **Flexible Collateral Usage:** Continue to use assets outside of the E-mode category as collateral under normal LTV and liquidation conditions.

**Important:** Borrowing in E-mode is limited to assets within the same category (e.g., stablecoins). Exiting E-mode will revert your borrowing capacity to standard settings.

# Frequently Asked Questions

## What is Rhombus Protocol?

Rhombus Protocol is a decentralized, non-custodial liquidity market platform where users can participate as suppliers or borrowers. Suppliers provide liquidity to the market and earn passive income, while borrowers can access liquidity in both over-collateralized (ongoing) and under-collateralized (flash loans within a single transaction) formats.

To engage with the community and seek assistance, you can join the [Rhombus Protocol Telegram](https://t.me/rhombus_io). Our team and community members are available to help you understand and effectively use the platform.

### Why Choose Rhombus Protocol?

Rhombus Protocol offers a secure and transparent environment for liquidity markets. As a clean fork of Aave protocol, of which the contract codes have undergone extensive audits and Rhombus Protocol is built with robust security measures to ensure the safety of users' assets. It is fully open-source, allowing anyone to interact with the protocol through a user interface client, API, or directly with smart contracts on the blockchain. The open-source nature enables the development of third-party services and applications to interact with the protocol and expand its ecosystem.

### How to Interact with Rhombus Protocol?

1. **Supply Assets:**
   * Select your preferred asset and the amount you wish to supply. By supplying assets to the protocol, you earn passive income based on market demand for borrowing.
2. **Earn Passive Income:**
   * Interest is accrued based on the borrowing demand for the supplied assets. The more demand there is for an asset, the higher the interest rate you earn.
3. **Use Supplied Assets as Collateral:**
   * Once you have supplied assets, you can use them as collateral to borrow other assets. This allows you to leverage your existing holdings to access additional liquidity.
4. **Offset Borrowing Costs:**
   * Any interest earned from supplying funds helps to offset the interest accrued on borrowed funds, making the process of borrowing more cost-effective.

### Costs of Using Rhombus Protocol

Interacting with the protocol involves transaction fees, which are required for blockchain operations. These fees vary based on network activity and transaction complexity. Users should be aware of these costs before engaging in supply or borrowing activities.

### Security of Supplied Funds

All supplied funds are held in smart contracts. These contracts are publicly accessible, open-source, and have been formally verified and audited by third-party experts. You can withdraw your funds from the pool on demand or export a tokenized version of your position (rTokens). These rTokens represent your lender position and can be moved and traded like any other cryptographic asset on the blockchain.

### Understanding the Risks

No decentralized platform is entirely risk-free. Rhombus Protocol, like any other DeFi platform, is subject to certain risks:

1. **Smart Contract Risk:**
   * The risk that a bug or vulnerability exists within the protocol’s code. To mitigate this, the code is publicly available, open-source, and has undergone multiple security audits.
2. **Liquidation Risk:**
   * The risk that your collateral may be liquidated if it falls below the required threshold during borrowing. Users should monitor their collateral and borrowing ratios to avoid liquidation.
3. **Ongoing Risk Mitigation:**
   * Rhombus Protocol runs an active bug bounty program and continuously reviews its code to minimize risks.

For more detailed information on risks and security, please refer to the [Risks sections](/security/risks) of the documentation.

# Oracle

## Oracles in Decentralized Lending on Rhombus

In decentralized lending protocols like **Rhombus**, oracles play a crucial role in delivering accurate and reliable price data for digital assets and other financial instruments.

Oracles provide real-time external information to the blockchain, enabling smart contracts to make informed decisions based on current market conditions. They are essential for determining collateral values, adjusting interest rates, and triggering liquidation events.

### Rhombus Oracle Providers

Rhombus uses Orakl as Oracle provider to fetch price feeds for various assets

### Orakl on Rhombus

The **Orakl** is a decentralized oracle solution built on the Kaia blockchain, offering real-time price data sourced from reputable institutional venues. By integrating Orakl, Rhombus ensures high-quality and reliable market feeds.

This integration gives Rhombus access to accurate and timely price data, enabling better asset valuation, dynamic interest rate adjustments, and smooth liquidations. Using reliable oracles like Orakl enhances the security and transparency of the lending process, helping users lend and borrow with confidence, knowing their assets are safe from price manipulation.

### How Rhombus Utilizes Orakl

By leveraging Orakl’s real-time price feeds and decentralized services, Rhombus improves the accuracy and reliability of its operations. Here are some key ways the integration strengthens the protocol:

* **Real-Time Asset Valuation**: Rhombus relies on Orakl’s data to constantly update the value of assets used as collateral. This ensures borrowers’ assets are always properly valued, safeguarding both borrowers and lenders.
* **LTV Calculation**: Accurate loan-to-value (LTV) ratios are crucial for healthy lending. Orakl sources market data from trusted institutional venues, allowing Rhombus to calculate collateral value and maintain up-to-date LTV ratios.
* **Liquidation Triggers**: Rhombus automatically triggers liquidations when collateral drops below a certain threshold. Orakl’s real-time price feeds allow the protocol to act quickly and accurately, protecting lenders’ funds from under-collateralized loans.
* **Interest Rate Calculations**: With interest rates often tied to market dynamics, Rhombus uses Orakl’s data to adjust rates in real-time, ensuring they align with supply and demand conditions.
* **Transparency and Verification**: Orakl enables Rhombus users to independently verify the accuracy of price feeds. This transparency assures users that the platform operates fairly and without manipulation.
* **Smart Contract Integration**: Rhombus integrates Orakl Network’s oracle service directly into its smart contracts. These programmable, self-executing contracts automate many of the protocol’s key functions, such as collateral valuation and liquidation, based on Orakl’s real-time data.

# Risks

Rhombus Protocol introduces more sophisticated risk parameters and features to provide the protocol with a high level of protection against potential insolvency.

# Asset Risks

## Risk Methodology and Token Evaluation

### Overview

The interconnected nature of the DeFi ecosystem means that risks associated with one component can propagate throughout the entire system. In Rhombus Protocol, liquidity is a fundamental aspect, supporting both the protocol's operations and overall user experience. This documentation outlines a comprehensive framework for assessing token risk within Rhombus Protocol, considering market, counterparty, and smart contract risks. This methodology aims to establish higher risk standards across DeFi and ensure the long-term stability of the protocol.

### Participation in Rhombus Protocol

Rhombus Protocol allows users to supply and borrow digital assets through liquidity pools. Suppliers receive protocol-issued rTokens that represent their supplied assets and accrued yield. Each borrowing activity is secured by collateral, serving as a safeguard against defaults and contributing to the protocol’s risk management.

#### Gas Costs and Complexity

Adding a new token to Rhombus Protocol introduces additional complexity and permanently increases the gas cost of transactions. This is because each token must be integrated into the smart contract infrastructure, raising the overall operational costs.

#### Financial Implications

From a financial perspective, tokens enabled as collateral are considered assets of Rhombus Protocol, while the borrowed tokens are considered liabilities. Often, the underlying assets and liabilities are distinct, with most borrows denominated in stablecoins and collateral provided in more volatile tokens. This divergence highlights the need for careful consideration before adding new tokens as collateral.

### Risk Considerations for New Tokens

Before adding a new token to Rhombus Protocol, thorough analysis is required to ensure that the asset introduces more value than risk. The following guidelines should be observed:

* **Only support assets with strong risk profiles as collateral.**
* **Riskier assets should only be enabled as collateral with Supply/Borrow Cap or under Isolation mode.**
* **New assets with higher risk and lower liquidity should only be considered for listing in Isolation mode (both for borrowing and collateral purposes).**

#### Isolation Mode

Isolation Mode in Rhombus Protocol allows to list riskier tokens without compromising the protocol's solvency.

### Centralization Risk

Accepting centralized assets as collateral exposes the protocol to centralization risks, including the single point of failure associated with the underlying tokens. These risks must be considered carefully when assessing new tokens.

#### Single Borrow Assets

Tokens with manipulable oracles are listed as single borrow assets. Users who borrow these assets cannot borrow additional assets simultaneously. This approach, known as "Siloed Assets," minimizes the risk of oracle manipulation.

### Risk Methodology Framework

The composability of DeFi protocols, including Rhombus Protocol, connects them to a wider ecosystem, introducing various risks. The addition of any new token must be evaluated based on three critical risk categories:

#### 1. Smart Contract Risk

This assesses the technical security of the asset's underlying code. Only tokens with rigorously audited smart contracts should be integrated into the protocol. Even with audits, smart contract risk cannot be fully eliminated, necessitating continuous vigilance. Assets with high smart contract risk should only be onboarded with strict risk mitigations, such as supply caps or Isolation Mode.

#### 2. Counterparty Risk

Counterparty risk measures how the asset is governed and the level of decentralization in its protocol governance. This risk is evaluated based on the number of parties controlling the token’s protocol, the number of holders, and the trust level in the governing entity or community. High counterparty risk assets should be carefully scrutinized before integration.

#### 3. Market Risk

Market risk relates to the size and stability of the asset pool within the protocol, as well as fluctuations in supply and demand. Liquidity must be sufficient to handle potential liquidations without excessive price slippage. Market risk is quantified by factors such as market cap, average daily volume, and normalized volatility.

### Risk Scale and Quantification

Rhombus Protocol uses a risk scale to evaluate and classify assets, ranging from the lowest risk to the highest risk. Assets classified as high risk may still be integrated into the protocol, but with significant limitations, such as being restricted to Isolation Mode or being designated as borrow-only assets.

#### Risk Factors

* **Smart Contract Risk:** Measured by the age of the contract, number of transactions, and history of security audits.
* **Counterparty Risk:** Assessed based on governance structure, number of active holders, and overall trustworthiness of the protocol's managing entities.
* **Market Risk:** Evaluated using market cap, average daily trading volume, and historical volatility over multiple time frames.

Tokens with high risks in any category should only be onboarded with strict risk mitigations, such as being available for borrowing only or with specific limitations in Isolation Mode.

### Risk Management and Calibration

To ensure the protocol’s solvency, risk parameters must be carefully calibrated. This includes setting appropriate Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratios, liquidation thresholds, and bonuses to incentivize timely liquidations. Ongoing risk assessments are critical to maintaining the stability and security of Rhombus Protocol.

# Liquidity Risks

## Liquidity and Borrow Interest Rate

### Overview

The Rhombus Protocol is a decentralized, non-custodial liquidity protocol that enables users to supply and borrow various cryptoassets from liquidity pools, earning interest on supplied assets. The liquidity of the protocol is a critical metric, representing the availability of assets for operations such as borrowing backed by collateral and redeeming supplied assets along with accrued interest.

At any given time, the protocol's liquidity can be assessed through the **Utilization Ratio**, which is the proportion of the reserve currently borrowed compared to the total supply of each asset. Liquidity risk is managed through the borrow interest rate model and alternative sources of aToken liquidity.

### Borrow Interest Rate Model

The Rhombus Protocol's interest rate model is designed to manage liquidity risk and optimize asset utilization. The borrow interest rates are calculated using the Utilization Rate *U*, an indicator of the availability of capital within the liquidity pool.

#### How It Works

* **When capital is available**: Low interest rates are applied to encourage borrowing.
* **When capital is scarce**: High interest rates are used to incentivize repayments and additional supplying.

To retrieve the interest rate strategy contract on-chain, refer to the developer documentation.

#### Interest Rate Formula

The interest rate curve is divided into two segments based on an optimal utilization rate *U*optimal. The model follows these rules:

$$
R\_t = \begin{cases} \text{if } U \leq U\_{\text{optimal}} & \quad R\_0 + \frac{U\_t}{U\_{\text{optimal}}} R\_{\text{slope1}} \\\[1em] \text{if } U > U\_{\text{optimal}} & \quad R\_0 + R\_{\text{slope1}} + \frac{U\_t - U\_{\text{optimal}}}{1 - U\_{\text{optimal}}} R\_{\text{slope2}} \end{cases}
$$

#### Actual Borrow Rate

In practice, the `calculateCompoundedInterest` method is used, with an approximation that mostly impacts high interest rates. The actual borrow rate is given by:

$$
\text{Actual APY} = \left(1 + \frac{\text{Theoretical APY}}{\text{secs per year}}\right)^{\text{secs per year}} - 1
$$

* **When&#x20;*****U*****&#x20;≤&#x20;*****U*****optimal**&#x200B;**:** Borrow interest rates increase slowly with utilization.
* **When U >&#x20;*****U*****optimal**: Borrow interest rates increase sharply, reaching over 50% APY if liquidity is fully utilized.

Both the variable and stable interest models are derived from the formula above, with different parameters for each asset.

#### Model Parameters

The interest rate parameters are tailored to manage liquidity risk and market conditions effectively. They are calibrated based on the following key factors:

1. **Collateral Usage**: Volatile assets need constant liquidity for liquidations.
2. **Market Conditions**: Borrowing costs must align with market opportunities to prevent arbitrage.

### Interest Rate Strategies for Markets

The interest rate strategies for markets have been deployed with three distinct models, each calibrated for clusters of assets with similar risk profiles.

### Supply Rate

The borrow interest rates paid by borrowers are distributed as yield for aToken holders who supply to the protocol, excluding a portion reserved for the ecosystem treasury. The supply APY, **St,** is calculated as:

$$
S\_t = U\_t \left( \frac{S\_{B\_t}}{S\_t} + \frac{V\_{B\_t}}{V\_t} \right) (1 - R\_t)
$$

Where:

* `Ut`: Utilization ratio.
* `SBt`: Share of stable borrows.
* `St`: Average stable rate.
* `VBt`: Share of variable borrows.
* `Vt`: Variable rate.
* `Rt`: Reserve factor.

# Risk Parameters

### Introduction

Each asset within the Rhombus Protocol is assigned specific risk parameters that dictate how they can be supplied and borrowed within the protocol. The Rhombus introduces advanced risk mitigation tools, enhancing security, governance, and market-related parameters. It is essential for the Rhombus community to understand the risks associated with each asset to ensure the protocol remains secure and resilient.

All assets supported by the Rhombus Protocol are added via Governance Proposals or through Asset Listing Administrators appointed by the Rhombus Governance.

### Risk Parameters Overview

Risk parameters mitigate market risks for assets supported by the Rhombus Protocol. Each borrowing transaction is over-collateralized with assets that may be subject to volatility. Adequate margins and incentives are required to keep positions collateralized during adverse market conditions. If the value of collateral falls below a set threshold, a portion may be liquidated with a **Liquidation Bonus** to repay part of the debt and maintain collateralization.

#### Key Risk Parameters in V3

Rhombus Protocol V3 introduces several new risk parameters to provide enhanced protection against insolvency:

#### 1. Supply Caps

* **Definition:** Limits the maximum amount of an asset that can be supplied to the protocol.
* **Purpose:** Restricts exposure to riskier assets and guards against infinite minting exploits.
* **Implementation:** The value of the supply cap is determined by the on-chain liquidity of the asset and the total collateral volume in the pool.

#### 2. Borrow Caps

* **Definition:** Sets the maximum amount of an asset that can be borrowed.
* **Purpose:** Prevents excessive borrowing of an asset that could be subject to price exploits and protocol insolvency.
* **Implementation:** The borrow cap is set based on the on-chain liquidity of the asset and the total volume of borrowed assets in the pool.

#### 3. Isolation Mode

* **Definition:** Limits systemic risk by restricting riskier assets to borrowing isolated stablecoins and using a single isolated asset as collateral.
* **Implementation:** For more details, refer to the Isolation Mode Documentation.

#### 4. Silo Mode

* **Definition:** Applies to new assets with potentially manipulatable oracles. Siloed assets restrict borrowers to single-borrow positions, minimizing protocol insolvency risk.
* **Implementation:** A borrower of a siloed asset cannot borrow any other asset simultaneously.

#### 5. High Efficiency Mode (e-Mode)

* **Definition:** Allows assets with correlated prices (e.g., stablecoins) to be listed in the same e-Mode category, maximizing capital efficiency by enabling higher Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratios.
* **Current Implementation:** Only one e-Mode category is active—KAIA LST (category 1).

### Additional Risk Parameters

#### Loan to Value (LTV)

* **Definition:** Represents the maximum amount of assets that can be borrowed against a specific collateral, expressed as a percentage.
* **Example:** At an LTV of 75%, for every 1 ETH worth of collateral, users can borrow up to 0.75 ETH worth of assets.

#### Liquidation Threshold

* **Definition:** The percentage at which a position becomes under-collateralized, triggering a liquidation.
* **Example:** A liquidation threshold of 80% means the position can be liquidated if its value exceeds 80% of the collateral.

#### Liquidation Penalty

* **Definition:** A fee applied to the collateral price when liquidators purchase it as part of liquidating a loan that has exceeded the liquidation threshold.

#### Liquidation Factor

* **Definition:** Allocates a portion of the liquidation penalty to the ecosystem treasury.

#### Health Factor

* **Definition:** Represents the overall risk of a borrower's position. A Health Factor below 1 indicates that a position is at risk of liquidation.
* **Calculation:**

$$
\text{Health Factor} = \frac{\sum (\text{Collateral}\_i \times \text{Liquidation Threshold}\_i)}{\text{Total Borrows in ETH}}
$$

#### Reserve Factor

* **Definition:** Allocates a portion of the protocol’s interest to a collector contract from the ecosystem treasury.
* **Purpose:** Serves as a risk premium calibrated based on the asset’s overall risk.

### Mitigating Market Risks

Market risks have a direct impact on risk parameters and the protocol's stability. These risks include:

#### Liquidity

* **Importance:** Adequate liquidity is crucial for the liquidation process. Caps and liquidation parameters mitigate low-liquidity risks by providing higher incentives for liquidation.

#### Volatility

* **Impact:** Price volatility affects collateral value and can lead to under-collateralization. High volatility necessitates stringent LTV and liquidation parameters.

#### Market Capitalization

* **Importance:** Represents the size of the asset market, influencing the liquidation process. Smaller market caps are typically more volatile and pose higher liquidation risks.

#### Overall Risk

The overall risk rating is used to calibrate the Reserve Factor, with less risky assets assigned a lower factor (e.g., 10%) and riskier assets a higher factor (up to 35%).

### Conclusion

Effective risk management is crucial to maintaining the solvency and stability of Rhombus Protocol. The community must remain vigilant in monitoring and adjusting risk parameters as needed to protect the protocol and its users.

<figure><img src="https://content.gitbook.com/content/kq77qZNHWzUgkBrpyTNX/blobs/KoUK3HuN2R4iaYnWd6y8/Rhombus_FrontBanner.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Rhombus

* **청산 임계값**:
  * **50% 청산**: 건강 지수가 1 이하로 떨어질 때.
  * **100% 청산**: 건강 지수가 동적으로 조정된 임계값 이하로 떨어질 때.

# Flash Loan

## **Flash Loan

Flash Loan

### **Flash Loan

* **Flash Loan

E-Mode

## **E-mode

### **E-mode

2. **E-mode

#### **E-mode

### **E-mode

### **Isolation

**Rhombus Protocol**

$$
R\_t = \begin{cases} \text{if } U \leq U\_{\text{optimal}} & \quad R\_0 + \frac{U\_t}{U\_{\text{optimal}}} R\_{\text{slope1}} \\\[1em] \text{if } U > U\_{\text{optimal}} & \quad R\_0 + R\_{\text{slope1}} + \frac{U\_t - U\_{\text{optimal}}}{1 - U\_{\text{optimal}}} R\_{\text{slope2}} \end{cases}
$$

$$
\text{Actual APY} = \left(1 + \frac{\text{Theoretical APY}}{\text{secs per year}}\right)^{\text{secs per year}} - 1
$$

#### Rate Strategy KAIA

$$
S\_t = U\_t \left( \frac{S\_{B\_t}}{S\_t} + \frac{V\_{B\_t}}{V\_t} \right) (1 - R\_t)
$$

변수:

* `Ut`: Utilization ratio.
* `SBt`: Share of stable borrows.
* `St`: Average stable rate.
* `VBt`: Share of variable borrows.
* `Vt`: Variable rate.

# 위험 관련 매개변수

Rhombus Protocol V3

$$
\text{Health Factor} = \frac{\sum (\text{Collateral}\_i \times \text{Liquidation Threshold}\_i)}{\text{Total Borrows in ETH}}
$$
